Hey – are you feeling stuck of late, and finding it hard to pursue your dreams and goals? Do you struggle to take action on your priorities and find yourself constantly procrastinating, overthinking, and self-sabotaging? You’re not alone! Many women experience these behaviors, and they can be quite puzzling and frustrating.

Let’s take a closer look at the four types of resistance that often hold women back :

  1. Chains of the past
  2. Resistance to big goals
  3. Resistance to shining with confidence
  4. Resistance to taking consistent, inspired action

Past experiences, traumas, and beliefs can create mental barriers that prevent you from moving forward and achieving your goals. It is possible to create new, empowering narratives that will help you break free from these chains of the past.

Setting big goals can be intimidating and often goes against your ingrained beliefs about your worth and deservingness. It’s important to recognize that breaking away from your early family paradigm can be challenging, but it’s entirely possible and necessary if you want to make lasting change in your circumstances.

It’s not uncommon for women to struggle with downplaying their power and brilliance, and it’s easy to fall into the trap of staying in our comfort zones. However, playing small comes with a high cost, and it’s important to ask ourselves what that cost has been in our own lives.

Perhaps you’ve missed out on opportunities for advancement in your career because you didn’t feel confident enough to put yourself forward. Maybe you’ve avoided speaking up in important meetings, even though you had valuable insights to share. Or, you may have held back from pursuing your dreams and passions, settling for a life that feels unfulfilling.

Whatever the cost has been for you personally, it’s important to recognize that playing small is a self-limiting behavior that can prevent you from reaching the type of freedom and fulfillment you yearn for.  By taking steps to step out of your comfort zone and shine brightly, you can unlock more of your power and create a life filled with meaning and purpose.

Many highly intelligent and capable women often find themselves in a frustrating situation. Just when they start to make progress towards their goals, an unexpected backlash occurs, or they fall into a pattern of procrastination. This can happen at any point in the journey, whether it’s in the beginning, middle or towards the end. The backlash can be triggered by taking big or small steps, and often occurs just as you start to see the positive effects of your actions. Even if you allow yourself to feel good about what you’ve accomplished for a couple of days, suddenly there’s a part of you that appears and feels like you’ve overstepped, broken some internal rule. Essentially, you’ve broken a rule around power. But here’s the good news – this is not your fault! It’s simply outdated programming embedded in your nervous system that’s holding you back. Clinical studies have proven that gentle techniques can release that programming. So take a a big cleansing breath, and have some compassion for yourself

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.” – Brené Brown

By examining your resistance from a place of curiosity and openness, you can begin to shift your perspective and create new, empowering narratives. Yes, it requires vulnerability, taking risks, and stepping out of your comfort zone. However, by embracing a growth mindset and focusing on progress rather than perfection, you can break free.

It has been my experience, that it’s not more painful to break free than it is to stay stuck – pain is pain.

Remember ladies, your past does not define you, and your future is brimming with endless possibilities. So don’t suffer alone; reach out,   take one more step into your power and potential! You have got this!
